Hello, my name is Nate Tastad, and I’m a second-year student at North Dakota State University. I grew up on my family’s ranch in rural North Dakota, which has strongly shaped who I am today and influenced many of my interests. Along with influencing my interests, it’s also influenced my academic life.
Because of my background, I decided to major in Agricultural Economics. Agriculture has always been a big part of my life, and I’m excited to learn more about the business and economic side of the industry. I hope to use the knowledge I gain in this program to help with the ranch back home or apply it to my future career.
A little more about me is that I play football at North Dakota State University. I really enjoy the camaraderie on the team and the connections I’ve made so far. Some of my hobbies include bowling, golfing, and spending time with my friends in Fargo.
My major, Agricultural Economics, combines economics, business, and agriculture to prepare students for careers in agribusiness, policy, farm management, and related fields. The program is offered through the Department of Agribusiness and Applied Economics in the College of Agriculture, Food Systems, and Natural Resources, also known as CAFSNR.
This semester, my main focus is expanding my knowledge of microeconomics. I will also be studying farm and ranch management along with accounting. Overall, I’m excited to learn more about these topics and look forward to sharing my academic journey throughout this blog!
