In today’s world, time management is one of the most important skills someone can have. There are a lot of distractions like phones, social media, and hanging out with friends, which can make it hard to stay focused. Because of this, managing time well is not just about staying busy, but about using your time in a smart way so you can get things done and still have some free time.
Time management can be explained as planning how you spend your time so you can reach your goals. Academically, this means knowing when to study, when to do homework, and when to take breaks. People who manage their time well usually do better because they are more organized and less stressed. It also helps them stay on track instead of falling behind.
You can really see how important time management is when you compare people who have similar abilities. The ones who plan ahead and avoid procrastinating usually perform better than the ones who wait until the last minute. Even if someone is really talented, they can still struggle if they do not use their time wisely.
At the same time, time management is not always easy to develop. There are a lot of things that can distract you, especially your phone. It is also easy to think you have more time than you actually do, which leads to rushing or missing deadlines. Without a plan, it is easy to get overwhelmed.
To start improving my time management, I plan to make small but consistent changes to my daily life. First, I will utilize academic advisor meetings at the SHAC to make me a weekly schedule with assignments and important deadlines so I can see everything in one place. I will also try to plan out my day ahead of time, setting specific times to study, do homework, and relax all well balancing sports. To avoid procrastination, I will break larger assignments into smaller tasks and work on them a little each day instead of waiting until the last minute. I also want to limit distractions by putting my phone away or using apps that help me stay focused while I work. By sticking to these habits, I hope to become more organized, less stressed, and more productive over time.
